Your Privacy Is Our Priority

At Therapy Pal, we believe your mental and emotional safety begins with trust. That’s why we’ve built our app with privacy and security at its core.

I. Data Collection:

User Input:

The app collects user input to create and maintain an account, including user name, user ID, and password.  The app sends the text users input into the ChatGPT interface for the purpose of generating responses and dialogues, and the user input is not stored or used for training, but solely to process the user’s request.   

Usage Data:

We collect data on how you interact with the app, including the frequency of your usage. This helps us improve the app and understand user behavior.  These data points are only used internally.   

Device Information:

We collect information about the device you use to access the app, such as the device model and operating system, to ensure optimal performance and troubleshoot any issues. 

Location Data:

We do not collect your precise or approximate location data unless you grant us permission. 

OpenAI Data Handling:

We utilize the ChatGPT service provided by OpenAI. We do not ask or require OpenAI to store your data.  OpenAI may collect and process your data according to their privacy policy, which can be found here. OpenAI explains how they handle your data. 

II. Data Usage:

Purpose of Use:

We use your data to provide you with the a specialized dialogue from the ChatGPT model, personalize your experience, improve the app, and for troubleshooting. 

No Profiling or Targeted Advertising:

We do not use your data for profiling or targeted advertising. 

Data Retention:

We retain your data only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, or as required by law. We will delete your data upon request or after a reasonable period of inactivity. 

III. Data Security:

Encryption:

We encrypt all user data transmitted between your device and our servers to protect it from unauthorized access. 

Access Control:

Access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel who require it to perform their job functions. 

Data Breach Notification:

In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users as soon as possible and take appropriate steps to mitigate the impact of the breach.
